Jennifer Miller (6th Grade Counselor)


Mrs. Miller received her B.S. in Psychology in 2000 from Liberty University. She earned a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling in 2005 from the University of West Georgia. She is a nationally certified counselor who worked in Jackson and Barrow Counties at the elementary level for 16 years. Miller has also worked as a "school-within-a-school" counselor at the middle school level in Alaska. Additionally, she has worked as a DFCS case worker, activity therapist, and community counselor. Mrs. Miller believes that in partnership with other educators, families, and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure all students have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.


Mrs. Miller is married with three sons. She is a graduate of the Stephens County School System and is happy to be living and working in her hometown. She enjoys time with family, the lake, hiking, and her French Bulldogs.

Emily Sprowls (7th Grade Counselor)


Emily received her M.Ed. in School Counseling from Liberty University, and her B.S. in Family and Children’s Ministry from Toccoa Falls College. Before coming to SCMS, Emily worked at Toccoa Falls College for 7 years, overseeing aspects of the college admissions process, student housing, and student discipline. Emily desires to support students when it comes to their academics, behavior, social and emotional health, as well as any other needs that may arise throughout their middle school years.

Emily and her husband have been married for 13 years and have two boys. She enjoys the beach, hiking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Keumele Keown (8th Grade Counselor)

Mrs. Keown received her Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Valdosta State University in 2003, her Masters in Counseling from Valdosta State in 2008 and her Education Specialist in Leadership from Valdosta State in 2013. Mrs. Keown has 8 years of experience in education, working as a teacher, counselor and administrator. Mrs. Keown has a love for all children, and desires to help each student find a pathway to success.

Mrs. Keown has been married to Michael Keown for nearly 20 years and they have 3 children--Carrie, a senior at SCHS, Andrew, a 9th grader at SCHS, and Jacob a 5 year old.  Mrs. Keown loves spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Keown looks forward to making a difference in the lives of the students at SCFGA and SCMS!
